Who is Mehmet Görmez?

 

Mehmet Görmez was born in Gaziantep in 1959.
He completed his primary education in Nizip and his secondary education at Gaziantep Imam-Hatip High School.
He started his higher education at Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1983.
He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1987.
He completed his master's degree, which he started in the Department of Hadith, in 1990 with his thesis titled "Musa Carullah Bigiyef, His Life, Ideas and Works".
In 1988, he conducted studies and research at Cairo University for a year.
He completed his doctorate in 1994 with his thesis titled Methodology Problem in Understanding and Interpreting the Sunnah and Hadith.
He gave lectures at Ahmet Yesevi University Faculty of Theology between 1995-1997.
He took part in the preparation of Anadolu University's Theology associate degree program.
He was in England to conduct studies and research in 1997-1998.
He became an assistant professor in 1998 and an associate professor in 1999.
He gave lectures at Hacettepe University Faculty of Education between 2001-2003.
He became a professor in 2006.
Prof. was appointed as the Vice President of Religious Affairs in 2003. Dr. Mehmet Görmez served as Vice President of Religious Affairs between 2003 and 2010, and as President of Religious Affairs between 2010 and 2017.
Prof. has many published works. Dr. Mehmet Görmez is married and has three children and speaks Arabic and English.
